Gymnema contains gymnemic acids, they have a beneficial effect on the cells of the pancreas that produce insulin, therefore it is suitable for the diet of diabetics and is recommended for the prevention of diabetes. Gymnemic acid molecules fill the receptors located in the outer absorptive layers of the intestines, thereby preventing the absorption of sugar molecules in the intestines, which leads to lower blood sugar levels.
